I just recently got a Westie. He’s 12wks old and the season is changing in KS and he enjoys going to the park but i dunno do to the cold temps outside if he’ll like it or if its safe. Any help would be appricaited
Westies were bred in Scotland, so I doubt cold weather will bother him too much, although as a pup he might benefit from some extra care. I don’t know what KS is though, so could be the north pole for all I know!
If he’s doing a lot of standing still he may get cold, but if he’s running about he shouldn’t need a coat on if the weather is dry.
If his ears and paws are cold, he’s probably chilled and a coat might be a good idea. Make sure he’s dry underneath when you come indoors, and if it snows he might get balls of snow trapped in his fur. Not much you can do except let them melt, but if he gets them in the fur on his paws it will be painful to walk.
If you don’t want to pay out for a coat at this age, get an old jumper and cut the arm off. Put some holes in for his legs and that will do until he’s fully grown.
Good luck with your new pup!

It depends on the dog. He’ll let you know when he’s too cold. He’ll start shaking and look likes he wants to go home.
