I currently have a sweet little French Bulldog who is quite lonely during the day when I go to work. I put her in dog daycare a couple days a week so she doesn’t completely lose her mind… but I feel like it might be a better investment to use that dog-daycare money and get a 2nd dog… that way she has an all-the-time companion. I worry the cost of a 2nd dog may be too much… but I could probably manage it.
I’m looking at adopting a rescued Westie — but only if it appears that the two dogs get along after a couple of meetings.
Any thoughts?

Its just like having one kid. You leave them at the daycare but they are still lonely. Getting a new dog would be like giving your other one a bro or sis

Well that is a very good idea that you want to get another dog so that your bulldog is not lonely and bored all day. But i recommend a dog from the same gender. Have a good time picking out another dog

well if anything you can get yourself a small dog which wouldn’t cost much to mantain
.. and im pretty sure they’ll get along because mostly all types of dogs get along with the smaller ones

TRUST! we moved to a bigger house and had allot more land so decided to get another dog… biggest mistake ever all of a sudden life’s hell, the new dog we have steals shoes, playfully attacks our first dog (hes an old boy now and this isn’t so gd for him) constantly trying to mark his territory over our first dog. we are never having two dogs again.
Seriously dont just listen to these people i bet most of them dont even have a dog.
1. It’s hard trying to walk to dogs at once.
2. The dogs will try and eat each others food.
3. They will fight to be the top dog. FACT
4. The new dog will steal any of, your original dogs toys.
Really thou it might not seem like such a big difference getting one more dog but it really is, its gona make a HUGE difference on your life and the dogs life, I found that out the hard way.

I don’t like the idea of getting another dog because the first is lonely, I believe if it is lonely, it is because you are not there for it, so two isn’t a good idea, but if you feel that is best, it is your decision and I wish you the best.

i personally think that if your dog is lonely the first thing you should do is adopt the same breed of dog as they will get along better

I was scared if you had a male dog, they may fight like my two male dogs used to do, but one felmale and one nutered male or if your dog is spayed. or females should get along, i would not know though because my 6 chihuahuas are all related and grew up around each-other. make sure your dog is not to domanent. my nana got a female peekingneese then a male peekingneese and the female would attack the male, then the male attacked my male chihuahua (their all fine now cuz their not together now)
