I Want an ADULT Westie in North Texas. the Problem Is That the Westie Rescues Charge Too Much. Help?

When you are getting a dog from rescue you are paying for the dogs care and medial expenses. You are getting a dog that has been spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and any other medical problems treated as well as the cost to care for the dog while in the rescues care. What you pay is close to or not much more (and some times less) than you would pay to have all this done yourself. You also have to look at the fact that if you can’t afford the a few hundred dollar or less adoption fee then you can’t really afford to care for the dog properly in the first place

sorry, but rescues are usually a lot cheaper then buying from a breeder

try petfinder if you haven’t already. And rescues charge a lot for a reason. They have to cover the costs of feeding, vetting, training and transporting these animals as well as altering and possibly microchipping the animal.

The rescue will give you the most reasonable price anywhere, and you’ll be saving a life. You won’t find a dog cheaper than what the shelter is offering unless you get it from a normal all-breed shelter.

I hate to poop on your party but a rescue group is going to be the cheapest way to go other than trying the SPCA. Rescues will try to only charge a small fee to cover the vet bills for taking care of the dog. Small dogs that are uncommon in the North Texas are tend to be more expensive than say adopting a chihuahua.

If you can’t afford a rescue dog, how will you afford vet bills because basically that is what you are paying for when you rescuse a dog.

I just looked at Westie Rescue of North Texas–their adoption fee is $200.00, which includes spay/neuter if the dog is not already altered, made current on all vaccines including kennel cough, and heartworm checked. That seems like a bargain.
