My westie puppy, shes nearly 9 months old, has a red spot on her belly. I have just noticed this morning when she was sleeping, She keeps inching there and licking around that place too. Do I need to take her to a vet or is there some treatment i can get from the pet shop? Thanks, I really hope my dog will be okay so any advice is awesome.
Thanks.
As Cookie has said, it could be a food allergy. (Although the food allergy will come from vaccine side-effects. Westies are very prone to side-effects from vaccines.) Buy yourself some Calendula tincture or Calendula cream. Calendula tincture is cheaper and more effective. It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and will treat strepp and/or staph infections. If you can get the tincture, put two teaspoons (10 mls) of the tincture into a cup, and add 90 mls of "just off the boil" water. Leave to cool, and when cool, bathe the area with clean cotton wool. Keep the actual tincture in a cool, dark place…..like under the sink. It lasts for years, so works out very cheap. Oh no, my wrestle puppy had a red spot too! Gotta stop her from getting into that ring again! It’s not safe!
Go see a vet if you’re worried about your pet.

It could just be flea’s biting her there alot. But it’s always good to be safe and take her up to the vet for a check up. It could be something that no one would expect.

Sounds like a "hot spot" is starting. These can be really uncomfortable for the dog and are usually caused by an allergy. My experience with them has been a food allergy, and switching to a diet without corn, wheat, soy, or ANY by-products has cleared them up.
They are a staph infection and need an antibiotic to completely get rid of it. Here’s a picture of a staph (hot spot);

You need to see a vet as they can spred.
