Yes they are double coated so they shed a bit. Usually not hypo due to the fact the majority are prone to serious skin issues & allergies. If you buy one do plenty of research on the breed & investigate the breeder & be certain allergies & bad skin are not in the lineage of either dog.

all dogs with hair shed.. even poodles shed.
No dog is 100% hypoallergenic.. not even poodles.

ALL dogs with fur/hair shed to one degree or another
NO breed of dog is hypoallergenic. ANY breed can trigger an allergic reaction in someone either from their saliva or their dander.

No, westies don't shed (in the same way as poodles or other non/low shedding dogs). Their coat does need a routine clipping/groom every month or so.
I'm not sure if they are hypo-allergenic or not though.
Super sweet and active little dogs!

All dogs shed to some degree, and there's no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog. But, yes, a Westie's shedding is minimal.

I second the answer before this one.

They do shed, but not much. They have an outer coat and an undercoat. Proper show westies are hand striped meaning the longest outer coat is pulled out before it falls out but most pets aren't hand striped. If you bathe, brush and groom your dog often it will be less allergenic but they are defiantly no hypoallergenic.
