I have a westie. They are small white dogs who love kids. He's neutered and all but the vet said that she puts down loads of westies every year. When we first got him, everyone we told said "be careful, there vicious"But in the 2 years I've had him he hasn't bitten anyone. So why do you think people still say there vicious.!!!!!!
Westies are terriers, and terriers get a bad rep. Westies are nothing more than white Toto's. Maybe because they are all white people don't like them. The truth is all dogs bite – when provoked. Westies, like all terriers, have an attitude. That's part of their charm. Terriers think they are big dogs trapped in a little body and they feel they can take anything on. They were bred that way. They were bred to hunt rats, weasels, foxes, and badgers and had to have a scrappy attitude to take down critters that were twice their size. However this reputation and this attitude has stuck with them. Improperly trained and socialized terriers tend to be snappy. They were never taught how to act in public, thus they rely on instincts. However this isn't the case with just scotties, look at all the bigger breeds who get a bad rep because of poor owners? Bull Terriers, Dobermans, even chihuahuas are known to be ankle biters.

may be you got the rebel one. But wait and see. Westies are very nervous, and sometime in life they show it.
