I heard somewhere you shouldn’t give them beef as its bad for their skin…is this true?
**i don’t mean pure beef but in their dinner ….
even though the caesar tins have beef – which is odd
i think maybe mine is algeric to it then cause his vet said we shouldn’t give him beef when he was a pup
iv never give him beef because he told me this
It’s true with my westie. (I just signed up to yahoo to answer your question as beef has a terrible affect on my dogs).
I have a westie and a westie X Poodle.
The cross has a small reaction, the pure bred has a HUGE reation.
If I give him just a little he gets very very itchy. it’s so bad, i don’t eat beef at home because i like giving left overs to my dogs.
I’m sure not all Westies have this problem, but I have heard of it happening to other westies, so give him beef if you want, but just watch for a reaction, alternatively, it’s probably best not too.
Good luck, beautiful dogs.

Yes give them beef RAW its the best..and its healthy…Who told you that?

Definitely false. By the way, this isn’t a breed specific question. Any dog breed can eat beef.
ADD:
I’m not sure why you vet told you that. How would he know of an allergy your dog has if YOU don’t even know about it? Can you remember discussing that with him at all? Maybe at the time your dog had skin problems and you took him in for a check up. And your vet asked about your dog’s diet and when you told him you fed beef he recommended you stopped.

No that’s not true. Raw meat is good for any dog. The only way you shouldn’t give it is if your dog’s allergic to beef, then you give them a different meat.

Nah it’s fine, we sometimes mix up beef or chicken with our dogs dry food for a treat.

It depends on your dog.
I have one here that can’t tollerate beef, it makes him itch like crazy.
The rest of mine are fine with it, they get 1/4 mince to 3/4 dog roll for dinner and dry food for breakfast.

Your Westie may have allergies. My mother-in-law had one that had to have all her food microwaved due to food mites.
I thought it was crazy at first, but she did get healthier from that. The vet had done allergy tests and the mites were a problem. She was sensitive to a lot of things and ate chicken. They bought her cooked chicken at the deli and I forget what else. I know of dogs allergic to things I would never have guessed they would be. My neighbor’s dog is allergic to many kinds of plant pollen and needs expensive immune suppressant drugs to be healthy at all. She gets so itchy that she is miserable. I know a horse that is allergic to most things that horses eat. It is really strange. If you know what to avoid for your dog, you’re way ahead of people who don’t believe that dogs can be sensitive to foods or common items.
