Why Does My Dog Keep Shaking and Crying?

My dog is a west highland terrier and is 13 years old. For the last 2 days she hasn’t stopped shaking. She is acting really strange, digging holes in the garden and carrying teddies around in her mouth and crying for them when she’s left them outside. This isn’t the first time that this has happened. Can anyone help me?

Shaking in a dog usually means that the dog is in pain. Dogs don’t cry for the heck of it. She’s keeping the things with her that make her feel comforted. I would tale her to the vet.

Time for a trip to your vet. She’s getting up there in years, and right now, anything might be going on. In any case, it’s always a good idea to have an oldie in for a health check so they go into their final time pain free and happy.

Bitches do this when they are having a false pregnancy – might this be going on?

If the dog is digging holes and shaking, there might be something wrong with her emotionally or even physically. You must go to the vet or things might get worse. Dogs cannot talk like humans so only the doctor will know.
