When Do West Highland Terrier Puppies Start Getting Their Adult Coats?

I have a 4 month old westie, he has a very thin coat. When will he start to grow his adult coat? Does his puppy coat need to be removed?

sigh……….West Highland WHITE Terrier! dammit
Supposed to be HAND-STRIPPED!!
Puppy crap should have been pulled a month ago!
BYBd stuff will NEVER have correct coat….or any other trait.
