i might be getting a westie (west highland terrier) and i would like to know how long i am aloud to leave him/her for ??? any answers
a few hours at most. no dog is ever to be lift alone in a house. especially if it's new to the house, you dont want to make it think its been abandoned. pups need plenty of love and affection.
if you're planning on leaving it for long periods of time a lot then i would not get a dog at all.

How big is his bladder?

Make sure it's well watered and left out of direct sunlight. Check back every few days and see if the soil is still damp.

The basic rule is:
Measure the dog's length(nose to end of tail) then his height .
To figure this out take the length multiplied by height divided by pi = the amount of time you can leave the mutt alone.

As long as you want. If you don't mind it dying.

Ah Never! Terriers are needy dogs. I have stories of things they do….when left alone..they are like having a infant baby.!!! Don't get the dog unless you want to dedicated yourself to the dog, and they defiantly will dedicate their loyalty to you! But If you have a busy lifestyle that keeps you away from home don;t do It!

it's not so much the breed of dog as it is the all dogs, the reccomendations for max time to leave a dog is 4 hours as he will need to empty his bladder/bowels.
also he will need exercise plenty of fresh water at all times and of course feeding

Not anymore than 3 hours.

Oh be quiet. Everybody needs to work to earn a living, perhaps this person has evening and weekends to spend with their pet but needs to be at work during the day.
I would ask my vet these questions and try not to leave my dog on his own for too long. Also look in to maybe getting a dog walker.
