Don’t be tempted to buy a cheap puppy – there are far too many poor quality WHWTs being bred from and many have chronic skin & temperament problems. You will not get a well bred, healthy puppy if it is cheap!
The links to the breed rescue should be able to help you.

You can do an online search for Scottish Terrier rescue groups. I got my Scottie from a breeder in Kentucky. And I did research to find this breeder. Just take some time and search. A pure breed will cost you a bit, but it is worth it. Have your parents had a Scottie before?

    Hi,

You might want to get or find a dog from the shelters. Here are the lists of shelters in USA if you live there:

If your serious about getting a dog of whatever breed contact the secretary of the local breed club. They will be able to help.

Don’t try to buy one on the cheap from the papers or local ads, they will just bring trouble.

UK? Contact the Breed Clubs for the names of reputable breeders. Most Clubs have somebody who keeps a list of breeders with puppies available. You could try Champdogs, which is area-specific, but do your homework because although there are a good number of better breeders on this website, there are also some not so good ones. And normally the better breeders don’t need to advertise – they have a waiting list. Don’t part with your money until you know what you are buying – you get what you pay for, and it might be better to save up a bit more, and get a well-bred, healthy puppy. You will find ‘cheap’, but the downside is you may have a lot of expensive vet bills!!

And do make sure your parents want a puppy ……. gifts of live animals are not always a good idea, unless you know the receiver wants one – and can go with you to choose the one they’d like.

First off is this a first dog?
If so forget the Scottie. They are way to hard to train. I am my Scotties 2nd owner, she is a good dog. But everything I learned from training my Schnauzer went out the window. Here is some rescue groups most only want a donation.

Firstly, you can try the dogs trust which is a trusted dog shelter.
You could also try http://www.epupz.com which lets you select the breed of dog and the area which you would like to buy it in.

If you are after an accredited breeder, then try the kennel club website. This is good because every breeder has to be checked before they can advertise their dog on there, so you know you are buying a good dog. With this, you can also select the breed and area to buy in so it limits down your search.

Try your local newspaper because they often have an advertisement column which can have a pets section.
