Hello! I am doing a presentation on West Highland White Terriers in my Media class because they are the absolute best dogs anyone could ever own! I have 2 Westies myself and could not imagine life without them. So, could you all please give me your opinions on anything that comes to mind about YOUR Westie(s) (ex: temperament, training, appearance, living conditions, life expectancy, rescue missions, breeding, showing, etc….). Anything you want to talk about would be awesome!! Thank you so much! =]
I like Westies, they’re the only small dog I’d ever even consider owning (though I don’t intend to). I think they’re just a cool little hardy breed, but personally I like just a little bit bigger.

Our westie Lottie is extremely loyal, she follows my mum absolutely everywhere, full of character, stubborn, picky, loves cuddles and very pretty. She is prones to illness – is sick quite a lot, has eczema on her paws and gets grass seeds in her eyes a lot. They are lovely little dogs.

The West Highland White Terrier is a companion, and he enriches his family’s life with his silly antics and love of life. He’s a social guy who gets along well with everyone, strangers included, and he is not a one-person dog. He’s affectionate with children of all ages, and he does well living with older kids. He gets along with other dogs in public settings (unless he’s one of two intact males in the group), and he positively thrives in homes with multiple dogs. He can adapt to cats–despite chasing them from time to time, he will usually settle down nicely with friendly kitties. What he cannot adapt to are small animals that run free, such as rabbits or gerbils, since the wee white one has a strong prey drive.
