West Highland White Terriers in Missouri?
Are there any breeders in Missouri that currently have available Westies? I can't find any. Thanks!
Price isn't an issue, I just can't find a breeder.
The West Highland White Terrier Club of America has a breeder referral that lists two breeders in Missouri. They may or may not have puppies at the moment, but they could probably put you on their waiting list or help you find another good breeder. Read this article to learn what to look for in a reputable Westie breeder: http://www.westieclubamerica.com/breed/acquire.html#breeder
The club also runs a rescue, and you could also try looking in shelters in your area.
You might have to wait a while. Finding the perfect puppy can take time, but your patience will be rewarded.
Stay away from pet stores and breeders who advertise in the newspaper. These are bad breeders who just want to make a profit; they don't care about the health of their dogs. If you buy from them, you'll get a low-quality dog that might have serious genetic health problems.

Please consider Westie Rescue. Go to the AKC web site and search for "breed rescues". They will list the rescue contacts by state/club. Contact these people and find out what Westies they have available for adoption. Most adoption fees are a pittance compared to the purchase price, and many times young dogs are available. If there are none in your state or area, a coordinator can work to help you adopt from a different state.
