If you look on http://www.champdogs.com and search the breed you want, it will give you a list of reputable breeders. Or you could look on breed sites for the specific breed and there tends to be list. There are good breeders listed on the Kennel Club website.

Good breeders are added on epupz

Hope these help. I found my Springer Spaniel on champdogs, from a good reputable breeder.
A few points to consider;
*When you choose your puppy make sure mum is there and you can meet her.
*Make sure both parents are health checked.
*The marents should of been health tested
and *a reciept should be given to you on purhase or deposit of the puppy
They are just a few off the top of my head but there are many more.
Good luck searching for your puppy

My friend tried puppyfind.com and they got 2 very sweet and lovable border collies from responsible breeders.
But be very careful when purchasing a puppy from a breeder you have to choose a breeder very carefully.
When you find a breeder ask them lots of questions about their dogs, like:
- how many times they breed the dogs (to make sure they do not over breed them)
- Are their dogs kept inside as their pets
- if their dogs are kennel club registered
- and if they have passed all the genetic health tests.
And if you don't feel like thats a good breeder than try another one.
But before getting a puppy from a breeder please consider adoption first, there are millions of homeless pets in shelters all over america, purebreds, mixed breeds, pets of all different ages in need of homes. Try Petfinder.com it lists thousands of adoptable pets.

Are you seriously wanting to buy from a breeder when there are dogs in shelters who need homes?
I'm from South Africa and it's a problem here that there are breeders pumping pups on to the market yet those who don't get sold when they still in their "cute fluffy" stage don't always get homes. Shelters can't always keep the large amounts of dogs that get brought in, and often get euthanized after a set time period.
>I don't know how shelters there work< Yet i still suggest giving a home to a dog (pup or not) who has been abandoned, not one who has been bred so someone can make money off the puppy.
I adopted my pup from a rescue centre; his mother (with her NINE pups) was rescued from a puppy mill where a greedy man had wolves and huskies over breeding so he could make a quick buck off of them.
I wouldn't change my pup for the world, and i feel good that he's not just another "statistic" of a pup dying in a shelter/rescue centre.
It's up yo you though what you do.
Hope you get a pup that you will be happy with and will bring many smiles to you

There's sure to be rescue centres in Essex; don't buy from breeders.
Our friend from South Africa is absolutely right.
If it's a specific breed you want, google the breed rescue. They will help you find a good companion.
