Westies

Hi. I have a male toy yorkie his name is Koko and he is 4 years old. I was wondering if I can buy a westie and if they get along. If so what should I get a male or female?

Usually there would be no problem and I recommend getting a female.

It just seems to me that straw may be better as blankets can get wet very quickly.
He doesnt LIVE outside but I like to let him have a run around the garden during the day,we’ve had a really mild winter this year so cold isnt an issue thank goodness.

Hi, im wondering if westies are a good breed to have for a 13 year old girl?
what are they like.
how do the act. are they good dogs?

shes fine, i got her when i was 11 and she was really good around me.

westies are really good with children, but not too young, children around my age. They socialize well and me and my dog play all the time! They are really curious dogs though, and if they see something like a bird in the garden, they will dart for it ! Westies are also really good watchdogs, they keep on the lookout for strange people entering their territory. They are active and assertive and fun loving! I play with my dog a lot, she brings me her toys for her to throw and she goes, gets it and brings it back, they are really good around children. Me and my westie have our special game, i throw a toy and run off and hide somewhere, she drops the toy and comes and finds me, then she race to the toy and i throw it again hehe :’) its really fun! they make really good playmates

They are loyal companions, who will stand by your side forever, given love and affection. They are also attention seeking, always wanting strokes and belly rubs They are good around other dogs too, when i meet with other dogs on walks, she happily sniffs them they are sociable

They stand with pride and with they’re tail high, they think they are larger than they are most of the time though .. hehe :’) They are clean dogs who do not shed their white fur. They sleep anywhere in the house even though my dog loves her bed

They have a wonderful sense of smell as all dogs do. They are smart, curious, courageous and alert.

i have 2 westies – a male who is 3 and a female who is 1.
i have some small bushes and conifers in my back garden and keep catching my dogs playing with baby black birds.
not sure if they just keep falling out of the nest or the dogs fetch them but i need it to stop.
why do they do it? is it normal? does this mean they are turning into aggresive dogs?
any suggestions welcome

I have a westie and iv been cleaning his ears for a couple of days now and iv noticed that in one of his ears that there’s brown and white goo I don’t know how to disinfect hes ear….
I cant afford to take him to a vet, is there a natural cure?

You say you have been cleaning his ears for a couple days.Why?Ears do not need to be cleaned daily.This will upset natural balance in ear.If he has brown and white goo it is probably a yeast infection,He needs antibiotics for his ear.Vinegar solution with an infection will cause him pain.It will burn his tender ear.AFter it is treated then leave ears alone unless they are dirty. A healthy dog will not need the ears cleaned that often.

We live in the city, and although fleas are not a HUGE concern for my Westie, the vet did find a few on him. I know Advantage is highly recommended, but I was wondering if, because of their sensitive skin, Westies should use something different?

Any suggestions specifically geared toward Westies would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve been using Frontline plus for many years on both my Westies for flea and tick protection. While I don’t live in the country they are still in areas with long grass where those nasty ticks hide.
