Westie Puppies

I have a 13 week old female westie and she plays happily in the back garden, but the minute i put her lead on and try to take her out for a walk to the park or where ever, she doesnt want to move. She has so much energy indoors and out the back garden, but she just seems to get so scared out the front. How can i get her to enjoy her walkies?

show her a biscuit in your hand and see if she agrees to walk, give her a small piece to eat after regular intervals

Westies are terriers and as terriers they think they own EVERYTIHNG. Its hard to make a dog respect another. Most times the dogs have to sort this out. But terriers are hard headed and are more aggresive in things.

I have a 14 week old westie puppy (male) and am wondering if it would be a good or bad idea to take on an older bitch aswell?

The older bitch has always lived with another dog and has apparently been stressed since its death. She is currently in a rehoming centre. The thought behind this is that they will keep each other company whilst I am out. What are the implications of owning two dogs??

Two dogs is not really different than one dog… if they get along. Try an introduction and see what happens. Being that the older dog is a female she may well see the little one as hers and take on a nuturing role. Not always but sometimes. A meeting in a neutral place will be best. The puppy will adapt to anything well.
