Hi Guys,
I am interested in getting myself a westie. I wanted to know if anyone has experienced purchasing a pup from Holly Stellitano. She is on the AKC listing but her prices are pretty much high. Males are $800 and females are $700. I understand the dog is a purebred and AKC listed but how can I tell the dog is in good health and legit? Im afraid to put a deposit down so she can hold a pup for me but is it worth it?
Don’t bring any sassy comments as I am not interested in purchasing a dog from the store nor adopting or rescuing a pup just because of my own personal reasons.
Thank you!
Would this be consider legit?

Has anyone dealt with cvezdos@centurytel.net?
Her name is Cherie E. Vezdos-Lilje and she is in Ohio. She has westies for sale and I found her info on akc.org. Is she legit?
hmm?
AKC means squat, many more things to look for in a breeder than that. Just from googling her name I can tell she is a BYB, selling on puppyfind.com no champion parents and not even champion bloodlines (even bad bybs make this claim lol)
Find a real breeder if you do not want to adopt, certainly you are doing a good thing by avoiding a petstore but keep in mind you are also doing dogs a grave disservice by purchasing from a byb,
Your breeder will health test the dam and sire, SHOW her dogs, be breeding champions or darn close to it. Sounds like you have a lot to educate yourself on before purchase, please don’t be in a hurry. Getting a healthy dog from a fine breeder will very likely take some time.
check out these two links, will get you on the right path! =)

http://www.westieclubamerica.com/regclubs/whwtcnnj.html that should be a good place to start looking for a reputable breeder, send some emails/make some phone calls and good luck!
ETA – also you can expect to pay at least 800 from a good breeder for a pet quality pup, more likely in the 1000-1200 range, sometimes even more. However you will likely be put on a waiting list so you will have time, it is worth it for a lifetime of breeder support this is absolutely invaluable to have someone who cares about your baby as much as you and is willing to be there to help you 24/7/365 for your pets lifetime, also you will have a solid health guarantee. Those byb health contracts are not worth the paper they are written on even if they claim years guaranteed.. good luck getting them to honor it. You will get a beautiful, healthy, mentally sound well socialized pup for a little more money. I am sure that is what you are looking for! =)
- No the second breeder you listed is shady as well, looks good right? Except they say the sire is a champion in the yes/no but if you go on to read it just says he has champion lines! Very common BYB tactic, they also say nothing about health testing and they are selling full registration! Good breeders will never sell fully registered pups to non show homes. I am not trying to be rude at all but good breeders do not advertise on puppyfind! They don’t need to advertise, you have to find them. Many many people have learned this the hard way, puppyfind is pretty much an online petstore where BYBs produce dogs and you have no idea what other breeds they are breeding (often times many) what the living conditions truly are, even though you see cute pics.. and the temperament of the dogs is not cared about at all.
Feel free to send me any breeder links you’re looking at!!! I can also be reached on aim at fordhamairhockey if you have any questions!!
