Breed Description
The West Highland White Terrier is a small, hardy breed that is sweet and elegant looking. The females of this breed usually weigh between 14-18 pounds, and stands at 10 inches at an average. The males are slightly heavier, weighing 15-20 pounds, and an inch taller.

Coat
The double-coated West Highland White Terrier has a soft and dense undercoat with a rough top coat. It grows up to 2 inches long, and only comes in white color.

Activity
The highly energetic West Highland White Terrier will require long brisk walks on a daily basis. They are likely to develop pent-up energy if kept sitting around all day. If they do not get enough exercise to spend their kept energy, they tend to entertain themselves through barking, chewing, digging and other behavioral problems.

Temperament

Training
The West Highland White Terrier can be a challenge when it comes to obedience. Terriers have never been easy to work with obedience to begin with. Their willfulness and intelligence can be more challenging to train than it usually is. They do tend to get easily distracted. But, overall, these are intelligent dogs and would respond to training if done properly. In training, some commands are more significant than others. Teaching them the five basic commands first, and combining them as they go. Always be firm yet positive, and end the training session with a command that has already been learned.
